ClipTips ("we", "us", "our"), operated under Streamables.live Holdings, runs this platform. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. By using ClipTips, you agree to this policy.
Last updated: 12 May 2026 (clarified that live interpreter auto-engages on cross-language bookings rather than via opt-in toggle).
2. Data we collect
Account data: When you sign up, Clerk collects your email address and handles password storage. We receive a user ID from Clerk and store it in our Supabase database alongside your display name and preferences.
Payment data: All payment processing is handled by Stripe. ClipTips never sees or stores your full card number. Stripe provides us with a payment intent ID and a record of successful transactions.
Session data: When you participate in a session (as a learner or Expert), we store the session start/end time, the CLIP tokens exchanged, and the resulting audio and transcript. This data is used to generate AI dubs and populate the Knowledge Nexus.
Usage data: Standard server logs — page views, API calls, error traces. Used to maintain and improve the platform. Not sold to third parties.
3. How we use your data
We use your data to:
• Operate the platform (authenticate you, process payments, run sessions)
• Translate your messages, Q&A posts, and session audio into the viewer's preferred language using third-party AI translation, transcription, and voice synthesis providers (see section 4 for the full list)
• Generate AI-dubbed versions of completed sessions for the Knowledge Nexus
• Index session content in the Global Knowledge Nexus
• Send transactional emails (session receipts, payout notifications)
• Diagnose and fix bugs
Live interpreter mode auto-engages when a booking crosses languages (asker and Expert don't share a spoken language). A transparent premium is added to the session cost to cover the third-party translation, transcription, and voice-synthesis providers used during the call. Same-language bookings stay on standard video with no AI processing of your audio. Cross-language text translation for messages and Q&A can be opted out of via Settings → Privacy.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.
4. Third-party services
The following services receive your data as part of normal platform operation:
Clerk (clerk.com): Handles authentication. Stores email and hashed password. Their privacy policy applies to data they hold.
Supabase (supabase.com): Hosts our database. Stores your profile, session records, and wallet balance. Data is stored in Supabase-managed infrastructure.
Stripe (stripe.com): Processes all payments and Expert payouts via Stripe Connect. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data.
Daily.co (daily.co): Hosts video rooms for live sessions. Receives WebRTC video + audio streams during the session. Recording handling per their terms.
Translation, transcription, and voice synthesis providers used in the live interpreter and post-session dubbing pipelines:
• DeepL (deepl.com), OpenAI (openai.com), and OpenRouter (openrouter.ai) — text translation. Receive plain-text excerpts of your messages, transcripts, and Q&A bodies when translation is needed for cross-language viewing.
• Deepgram (deepgram.com) — live audio transcription during interpreter sessions. Receives the audio stream from your microphone in real time.
• ElevenLabs (elevenlabs.io) — voice cloning + speech synthesis. If you record a voice-print at signup or have your Expert voice cloned, a sample of your audio is sent to ElevenLabs to create the cloned voice profile. During interpreter sessions, the translated text is sent to ElevenLabs to synthesise speech in your cloned voice.
Live interpreter providers (Deepgram, ElevenLabs, translation providers) only receive audio or text from sessions where booking crosses languages. Same-language sessions stay on standard video with no AI processing of your audio.
Sieve (sievedata.com): Lipsync provider for cross-language sessions. Receives the video stream and translated audio to produce the lip-synced output. HeyGen (heygen.com) is retained as a standby post-session dubbing provider; not active in default routing.
Vercel (vercel.com): Hosts the platform. Standard hosting logs apply.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
We use four categories of storage, each requiring separate consent:
Essential (no consent required)
• Authentication session (Clerk) — required to stay logged in
• UserSync session flag — prevents duplicate sync calls, clears when tab closes
Functional (consent required to persist across visits)
• "cliptips_locale" — your language preference
• "cliptips-accessibility" — font size, contrast, motion settings
These work in-session even without consent. Consent lets them persist across visits.
Analytics (consent required)
• Anonymised usage events stored server-side — which features are used, where people get stuck. Never linked to your identity in any export.
Research & Data Partnerships (explicit opt-in required)
• Anonymised, aggregated interaction data may be included in licensed research datasets sold to AI researchers, EdTech companies, and academic institutions. See section 8 below for full details.
You can manage or withdraw any consent at any time in Settings → Privacy. Withdrawing research consent stops future collection and flags your historical data for exclusion from exports.
6. Research & Data Partnerships
If you have opted in to Research & Data Partnerships, your interaction data may be included in anonymised datasets we license to third parties including:
• AI training and research organisations
• Educational technology companies
• Academic research institutions
What we share:
• Aggregated, anonymised behavioural patterns (questions posted, topics, session lengths, ratings)
• Never raw personal data, never your name, email, or account ID
• All records use a one-way hashed identifier that cannot be reversed to your identity
What we don't share:
• Session recordings or transcripts (these remain private unless you publish them)
• Payment information
• Any data from users who have not explicitly opted in
Withdrawing consent:
Go to Settings → Privacy → Research & Data Partnerships and toggle off. We will stop collecting and flag your historical records for exclusion from future exports within 30 days.

7. Your rights
You can:
• Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Correct inaccurate profile information via your Profile settings
To exercise these rights, email info@streamables.live. We respond within 30 days.
Note: Session content published to the Knowledge Nexus (AI-dubbed videos and transcripts) may be retained in anonymised form for educational purposes even after account deletion, as it forms part of the shared knowledge base.
8. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Payment records are retained for 7 years for legal and tax compliance. Session recordings and transcripts are retained indefinitely as part of the Knowledge Nexus unless you specifically request removal.
